Creators + Makers
Seth Bunch, founder and maker at Xylem Woodworks, creates cutting boards, trays, spoons and utensils. He uses local premium wood straight from the Appalachian Trail. The products are finished with a coat of beeswax to bring out its rich color and then topped off with a coat of butcher's block oil for protection.
Seth has a heart for others and uses his talents as a craftsman for the benefit of Dustin's Greenhouse + The Greensboro Boys and Girls Club. He donates 15% of his monthly profits made from his products to these organizations.
Juliet is a North Carolina artist, illustrator, and photographer living in Berlin, Germany. Her work is defined by found and created compositions made of lines, shapes, and patterns.
I've had some custom prints done by Juliet and am floored every time. Watching a blank canvas suddenly turn into a beautiful scene is honestly like watching a magic trick. Her genuine appreciation for art and natural beauty shows through her work in everything she makes. I am always so honored to document Juliet's work and process.
I photographed Juliet during her artist residency at Kilbywood Cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Some Call Me Crunchy
Erienne Jones, founder of Some Call Me Crunchy, originally began her business as a holistic lifestyle blog. The blog is still going strong and provides many natural lifestyle recipes, how-tos, and suggestions. After sharing many of her essential oil creations on the blog, Erienne decided to make a business out of it and opened her Etsy store in early 2016. Erienne creates skin care products using essential oils and other natural ingredients.
Elizabeth Swing, owner and maker of Emergolde, creates eco-friendly and safe toys for kids. She channels her brilliant imagination through her craft, encouraging play + dreaming big with each whimsical plush toy.
She uses the fabric from her stock of organic, hand-dyed, and/or recycled fabric. She then makes the base of the toy with her sewing machine, and then hand-sews all the finishing details, such as embroidered faces, hair, and other special details.
Her joy and passion for these toys is contagious. Take a look at her products and you'll be able to see the love and hard work put into each and every one of them.
